WHEN IS IT A DENTAL EMERGENCY?

Dental emergencies can occur due to lack of regular quality dental or oral trauma.  Dental emergencies can include:

  • Abscess, or infection.
  • Pain or swelling in the jaw
  • Bleeding or injured gums
  • Loose or partially dislodged tooth
  • Broken filling or broken crown
  • Chipped or broken tooth
  • Sudden or severe toothache
  • Evulsed tooth (tooth that has been knocked out)

WHAT EMERGENCY DENTAL SERVICES DO YOU PROVIDE?

Composite Dental Filling. Sometimes your dental emergency may require something as simple as a dental filling.

  • If you toothache is caused from tooth decay, your dentist in Fort Lauderdale will remove the area of decay and place a composite (white) filling to restore your tooth and relieve your pain.
  • If you have lost or broken a previous dental filling, your dentist will replace your dental filling with a new composite filling.
  • If you have chipped or broken a tooth, your dentist on Commercial Blvd. may use composite material for tooth bonding to repair your tooth.

Tooth Extractions.  While every effort is made to save all of your teeth, sometimes an oral extraction is necessary. In these cases, we do provide same-day tooth extraction to relieve your dental pain and possible infection. When wisdom teeth are coming in they can cause pain or create an abscess. These require immediate attention and our team is here for you. Dr. Wasselle has over 30 ears experience in wisdom tooth extraction

Dental Crown Sometimes if you dental crown, or dental bridge, has fallen off, you may simply need it recemented. If no dental decay is present and your crown is undamaged, Dr. Rotroff or Dr. Wasselle will recement your crown and resolve your dental emergency.  If decay is noted, the underlying tooth is broken or in need of root canal therapy, you may require a new crown to resolve your dental issue.

HOW DO I PREVENT A TOOTHACHE?

The best way to avoid getting toothache and other dental issues is to keep your teeth and gums healthy with a thorough at-home oral health regime and regular visits to your dentist and dental hygienist in Fort Lauderdale.  Your dentist will advise the interval between your dental check-ups based on your individual needs and current overall health.
