Five things to consider when choosing a dentist

How do I find a new dentist?

1. REPUTATION

Go online to see what reveiwers are saying. Honest and transparent feedback from actual patients is a great way to determine if a doctor is right for you. Additionally, referrals from friends, family and coworkers can give direction to finding your new provider.

2. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Consider a dental office that is close to either your work or home. Arriving to your dental office without the wasted time and stress of a long commute can lead to a more positive experience in the chair as well.

3.INSURANCE

Find an in-network provider.  Check your provider's website to see if they are in-network for your insurance company. Your insurance company should be able to provide a list of participating dentists as well.  What if the dentist you choose is not in-network? You can still see a dentist who is out of network but may be required to pay for services and have your insurance company reimburse you directly.

4.  PRIVATE PRACTICE vs DENTAL CLINIC

While corporately owned dental clinics lure patients in with low fees and quick appointments, you may see different providers at each visit.  Choosing a private practice with one or two dental providers allows you to see the same doctor each visit and provides continuity of care.
